Datahug February Product Updates
Here at Datahug we know that the sales process is both complex and different at every company. That’s why our goal is to give you the tools you need to both simplify the forecasting and pipeline management process as well as give you the insights you need to make decisions.
We’re excited to announce, that as of February 18th, 2018 you’ll be able to leverage our powerful new Multi-Forecast Tool, Custom Forecast Categories, Monthly Summary Tool, Custom Fiscal Years, as well as several other product enhancements.
Below you’ll find a full breakdown and walk-through for each of these new product updates.

Instead of each manager and rep submitting only a single forecast, with our new multi-forecast tool, you’ll now be able to submit your team’s sales forecasts by business segment, New Business vs Renewals, Product A vs Product B, or any business segment according to your own custom configuration.
Setting Up Multi-Forecast
In order to define how your organisation wishes to forecast, you’ll need to navigate to Datahug admin and click on ‘Multi-Forecast Setup’. There you can select any picklist field from the Opportunity, Opportunity Product and/or Product objects and determine your forecast type by selecting values from your chosen fields and clicking save.
For example, if you want to create a forecast type for ‘New’ business and you have a field called ‘Opportunity Type’ which classifies an opportunity as ‘New’, select ‘Opportunity Type’ from the dropdown, select a value of New, give your forecast type a label and click Save.

Once your forecast types have been defined and saved, navigate back to your Datahug application and click on ‘Filter Data.’ Your newly defined forecast types will now be visible. Click on a type to automatically filter your opportunities and totals to your chosen forecast type. If you wish to submit a forecast, click on Submit Forecast and each forecast type will appear as a separate tab on your forecast submit modal. Click on each tab, select a precalculated forecast or input your custom numbers and click submit.
Each time you wish to view your latest forecast for a business segment, simply select your forecast from Filter Data and Datahug will display your forecast totals above your forecast tracker graph.
Custom Forecast Categories
Do you need to run Datahug off your own custom Forecast Category field? No problem.
Using the new custom forecast categories you’ll simply navigate to Datahug Admin, Select forecast setup and scroll to ‘Set Forecast Category Field’. Once you select your custom forecast category field from the list of available options, Datahug will present you with a mapping interface. Tell Datahug which field value corresponds to your commit, best case, pipeline, omitted and closed totals, click save and Datahug will now generate your totals off your custom field.
*Note that pipeline flow continues to run off the standard forecast category field (however you still have the option of viewing your flow chart by stage).
Have you been adding up your forecast totals? We heard you, and are now taking care of that for you.
Datahug now offers an option of ‘Monthly Sum’ on the forecast submit modal. This option is available when submitting your quarterly forecast and allows the user to easily submit a quarterly forecast as a sum of their monthly submissions for that period.
Custom Fiscal Years
Datahug is now fully integrated with custom fiscal years in Salesforce. So if you switch to custom fiscal years and start your year in March or you wish to run a 4/5 month quarter (or indeed a quarter of any length) or you wish to include a quarter where the months are composed or varying numbers of weeks, Datahug will pick this up and adapt to your fiscal year setup automatically.
- Datahug now exports opportunity and account IDs on all your live deal exports.
- The performance of the team rollup expand/collapse has been significantly improved.
- Your current quarter or month is now highlighted on the ‘Date Picker’ making it easier to move from period to period and maintain context of your current position.
